LELL in regards to Recommended Temporary Suspension of Little League Activities.

Dear Lake Elsinore Little League Family,

Firstly, I am hoping that everyone is staying safe and healthy during these most recent events. I know that one of our own has been seriously struggling with medical issues, and we need to keep her in our thoughts and prayers for a rapid recovery.

I know many of us were hoping that we would be getting ready to get back to playing ball by now, but the current situation is not going to allow that to happen. Schools are going to remain closed for the remainder of the school year, and The City of Lake Elsinore has closed the parks, including all athletic fields, until “further notice”. Little League International has recommended that seasons do not begin until the beginning of May, and the District 28 Tournament of Champions (TOC) has been canceled for this year. We are hoping to get the season up and going again as soon as it is safe and we are able, but unfortunately, right now, we have no idea when this might be. However, once the season does begin again, we are planning on getting as many of the games played as possible even if it means extending the season later into summer and/or scheduling up to three games a week for some of the divisions.

I realize there are many questions regarding subjects such as pictures and candy sales. As far as I know, the picture packages are still going to be delivered, and a new make-up picture date is going to have to be scheduled once everything goes back to normal. The candy sales fundraiser is an event that was scheduled months ago. Once the season starts back up, the particulars of how this fundraiser will be handle will need to be discussed, but to come up with an answer at this time would be premature. I, like many of you, wish I had more answers, but I honestly don’t.

However, in the meantime, we are hoping that while staying at home and safe the players can continue to practice with their parents or a sibling. Play catch and practice grounders in the back yard. The Lake Elsinore Little League Board of Directors has been in contact with an online video program that provides at-home drills and practice plans that we will be providing everyone with a free link to access the program. This site should be available within the next week. Please keep an eye out for this information. This will allow the players to be ready once the season starts back up.

Once again, stay safe and healthy and more information will be provided once it is available. I look forward to seeing everyone out on the fields as soon as possible. Respectfully,

Robert Sadlak
President - Lake Elsinore Little League
